The current minister of transportation, Honorable Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi appears to have revisited identity crisis after he claims to be more of an Igbo than Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
It would be noted that, Rotimi Amaechi hails from Ubima of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. Many people from that areas would never accept being identified as Igbo no matter how they are being convinced.
But Amaechi stunned many on Friday after he declared himself as a bona-fide Igbo person.
The former speaker of Rivers State State House of Assembly went further to compare himself to Abia State Senator, Abaribe. According to him, he is even more Igbo than senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
The serving minister made the disclosure yesterday Friday when he appeared on NTA’s television program “Good Morning Nigeria”
He made the claim while clearing the air on Eastern railway network.
Amaechi accepted that his name is derived from Igbo dialect which can be translated as “who knows tomorrow”.
“The criticisms of the opposition did not influence our decision to extend the rail line to the Eastern corridor. Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe is not more Igbo than I am. My surname is Amaechi, but no Igbo man can tell you the meaning of Abaribe.” — Rotimi Amaechi Said
